Selection Procedure
The selection process of RBI Assistant consists of 3 phases (preliminary , mains & Language Proficiency Test). The candidates must qualify each of them to go on to the next phase.
The
important steps of the RBI Assistant Recruitment Procedure are as follows:
•Online Preliminary Examination:
Sufficient number of candidates in each category is shortlisted by RBI depending upon the requirements for Online Main Examination
•Online Mains Examination:
Candidates need to qualify each section as well as the overall cut-off in the main exam to be eligible for the Final Selection.
•Language Proficiency Test (LPT):
The candidates provisionally selected from the main on-line examination will have to undergo a language proficiency test (LPT). The language proficiency test will be conducted in the Official / Local Language of the State concerned . Candidate not proficient in the Official/Local Language would be disqualified.
i) The above main online tests except the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
ii) Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests of the online examinations
iii) A candidate has to qualify in Preliminary Examination for appearing in Main Examination.
iv) There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests (Preliminary and Main examination).1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
v) Other detailed information regarding the examination will be given in an Information Handout, which will be made available for the candidates to download along with the call letter for examination from the RBI’s website.
vi) Roll No. of the candidates successful in preliminary online examination will be made available on RBI’s website in December 2017. The Roll No. of candidates successful in main online examination will be available on RBI’s website and a brief notice thereof will be published on the Bank’s website in January 2018/ February 2018.
vii) Only such number of candidates will be called for Language Proficiency Test who stand sufficiently high in merit on the aggregate marks of the Objective Tests, such merit being decided by the Bank in relation to the number of notified vacancies to be filled in.
viii) Final selection will be on the basis of candidate's performance in the online main examination, biometric verification and Language Proficiency Test taken together in order of merit.
ix) Appointment of selected candidate will be subject his/her being declared medically fit as per the rules of the Bank.
x) BIOMETRIC DATA- Capturing and Verification It has been decided to capture the biometric data (thumb impression or otherwise) and photograph of the candidates on the day of the Main Examination for the candidates who qualify after the preliminary examinations and appear for the main examination.
•Final Result:
The Final result is declared on the basis of merit list in RBI Assistant Exam.
•Provisional Allotment:
The provisional allotment of the eligible candidate is released on the official
website. The RBI allots Banks to the candidates on the basis of the preferences they have made at the time of the online registration..

The RBI Assistant preliminary examination is of one hour duration and is conducted online. It has 3 sections with having 100 questions in total with a maximum score of 100 marks. There is negative marking in RBI Assistant Pre exam as 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates must clear the sectional cut-off to qualify for the RBI Assistant Main exam. RBI Assistant Mains Exam Pattern
The mains exam has five sections: Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability,
General Awarenes and Computer Knowledge. The candidates must attempt the sections in the same order and within the allotted time fixed by the examining body. The candidate can’t leave the existing
section before the time allotted. The next section can only be attempted after the current section is completed. There is a negative marking with a deduction of 0.25 marks for every mistake.

•Language Proficiency Test (LPT):

Penalty for Wrong Answers:
A penalty for every incorrect answer will be marked in the Objective Tests of both Preliminary and Mains exams. Every wrong answer
will be penalized by deducting 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question. There will be no penalty for leaving a question blank, i.e. in case no answer is marked by the candidate.
Final Score
Calculation for RBI Assistant Exam:
There are certain important points on the basis of which the final score for the RBI Assistant exam is calculated:
•
Marks scored in the Preliminary Exam (Tier-1) will not be considered in the final score. These are only taken into account to qualify Mains Exam (Tier-2).
• Candidates need to qualify Main Exam and
Language Test to be eligible for final worth.
• The aggregate of 100 marks is used for the final merit list for each category. Candidates with high merit rank in each category are finally
selected.

RBI Assistant Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Graduation Degree: The eligibility criteria for the RBI Assistant exam is graduation degree in any of the streams such as BA, B.Com, BSc, B.Tech, etc., from a University recognized by the Government of India. Candidate who possesses same qualification from the university recognized by the Central Government is also eligible to apply for this exam.
Candidates should have a valid Mark-sheet / Degree:
Certificate which supports that they are graduates on the day they were registered for the exam.
The percentage of marks obtained in Graduation should be mentioned at time of registration for the RBI Assistant examination.
Computer Literacy: Knowledge of computer operation is a must as RBI Assistant exam is conducted online.
Language Proficiency: Candidates should have verbal and written proficiency in official language of the State/UT. The candidate should be able to read, write and speak the language.

Age Eligibility of candidates applying for RBI Assistant Examination:
Candidates applying for the RBI Assistant examination should be of 20 years old but not more than 28 years old at the time of registration. Candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/10/1989 and not later than 01/10/1997 (both days including) are only eligible to apply. Besides this, there is age relaxation relevant to category wise candidates as per the government rules:

RBI Assistant Pre-Exam Training
RBI may arrange combined pre-examination training at certain centres for a limited number of SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates in consonance with the guidelines issued by Government of India. Candidates belonging to the above categories who desire to avail themselves of such training may write to the Regional Office of the Reserve Bank of India to whom the candidate is applying. List of training centres given below is indicative. Candidates opting for preexamination training will be intimated about the training by the Regional Office. All expenses regarding travelling, boarding, lodging etc. will be borne by the candidates for attending the Pre-Examination Training programme at the concerned Pre Examination Training Centre. Depending upon the response and administrative feasibility the right to cancel any of the pre-examination training centres and/ or add some other Centres and/ or make alternative arrangements is reserved
